The Morgan San Simeon - Cambria by Hearst Castle

Julia Morgan is the inspiration of the theme of this Hotel. We revisit Hearst castle every couple of years, and this is my favorite hotel. It was $40 more than the cheaper hotels across the Hwy. It's well worth it. We'll keep coming back.

Quiet town: Excellent hotel compared to the circumstances, understanding the complexity of renovating etc here, probably the best you’ll find in San Simeon. Contrary to popular discussion there was a cooler and heater in the room, i think it did freshen up the air in the room. You can also open the windows. Room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Bathroom a little worn down with the tub having some scratches. Continental breakfast with cold items such as cold hard boiled eggs, yoghurts, cereal and so on. They did have some warm options like a waffle maker, and toast. They had a microwave The hotel has a pool but i did not decide to visit it this time. There are few dining options nearby as it is a small town, the beach is within walking distance. Overall it is a nice and affordable place to stop by!

My husband and I are on a romantic getaway up the coast from Coronado. The Morgan is a gem we discovered along the way. We got in late and Julien greeted us with such warmth, kindness and helpfulness. We loved the pool and breakfast was better than expected! The only downsides for us was not having an elevator and the TV being difficult to control. I will definitely recommend this Nigel to family and friends!

I really liked it here! The inside of the hotel was incredibly well maintained but dated. However it was dated in a good way. Past elegance preserved. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The outside and the windows could use some maintenance. The staff were very friendly and helpful

The beds were comfortable, the wifi was fast, the bathroom was decent and rooms were clean, though old and a little stuffy. We did not mind the lack of AC, as the room never got too warm. However, we had paid extra for a room with an ocean view and the windows were so cloudy and dirty to the point where the view was ruined. Clean your windows please!

The rooms were nice but not worth the price. Beds too high. Linens frayed. Bedspreads very nice though. Coffee maker in the only had coffee to make one cup. There were 2 of us and we had queen beds so anyone would think there might be 2 or even 4 people . Housekeeping did give us coffee quickly and we're very nice. Front desk staff are all business . A greeting and a smile are needed. There was a huge seagull dropping on our window. So we kept that side draped. Very convenient location. We had a lovely breakfast there our last day.

The water pressure for showers was great. The room was clean and quiet. The hill view wasn't great, but we spent more time outside looking at the beautiful views than looking out the hotel window. Pillows were soft and the bed comfortable, but it seemed like the sheets may not have been the right size. The fireplace (uses gas) really did add to the feel of the room. Didn't get a chance to try out the pool, but it looked good and was heated. I enjoyed all the art around the hotel that was from Hearst Castle. The breakfast in the morning was basic, but good. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but Cambria is also a short drive for more options. Hearst Castle is also close by, which was our main goal for the trip. We got a chance to see the zebras in the field close to the hotel, so that was a lot of fun. There is beach access just a short walk from the hotel, which was nice. The staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful. Overall, you could tell it was an older hotel, but I would recommend it.

A great value. Heated pool (warm enough but not warm). Clean, comfortable rooms. A bit dated decor but well taken care of.
